The Internet Society (ISOC) decided to lead a process in order to submit names as recommendations to the UN for participation on the Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) 2019, with the support of a small group of volunteers:

This process will lead to recommendations for Technical Community seats in the 2019 MAG and it’s for members of technical communities only – candidate evaluations will include their relationship to that community.
The purpose of the Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) is to advise the U.N. Secretary General on the programme and schedule of the Internet Governance Forum meetings. The MAG 2019 will comprise of 50 Members from governments, the private sector and civil society, and the technical communities. Those nominated should expect to attend two virtual MAG meetings per month as well as typically three face to face meetings per year.
The criteria below will be considered by the volunteers from the Selection Committee, when assessing ISOC-submitted candidates for the MAG Technical Community Position:
- Technical Experience
- Experience working in a multi-stakeholder environment
- Amount of time the candidate can commit to the MAG
- Regional Diversity
- Experience within the Internet technical community (e.g., RIRs, IETF, IAB, W3C, ICANN, ISOC)
Individuals interested in being suggested through this process are invited to fill this Nomination Form in full and return it to [email protected] no later than 23.59 UTC on Sunday, 9 September and ISOC will transmit the names of nominees to the United Nations no later than 12 September, 2018. Also, if the applicant believes that an existing CV or biographical sketch would contribute to the Selection Committee’s understanding of the candidacy, such a document may be provided in either PDF form or in the form of a link.
